Brothers@ Consortium

Brothers@ has officially launched our intercampus expansion across New York State, Chicago, IL, Oakland, CA and Dallas, TX to increase college graduation rates for YMOC by scaling our Ambassador Program & Institute, and launching the B@ Consortium in Higher Ed (BACHE).

Through our nation-wide Consortium, the B@ Ambassador Program mentors collegiate men of color, creates partnerships with colleges and universities across the country, and forms a community of practice among key stakeholders on each Ambassador’s campus.

Each Brothers@Ambassador is paired with a peer-mentor from their elder cohort.

Ambassadors are required to have 5 touch points in the program:

  • Attend a Monthly Ambassador meeting where all Ambassadors come together and discuss a variety of common issues college students face and how we can overcome them. We discuss academic issues regarding midterms and finals, but also get to tackle important skills like finances and utilizing opportunities on campus.

  • A check-in with the Ambassador Coordinator, where students give an update on their personal and academic progress. This is an opportunity to share any concerns or accomplishments that have happened in the past month.

  • Participation and facilitation in workshops with current high school fellows in Cohort IV. This provides the ambassadors with the experience of leading workshops, while also giving them the opportunity to connect with the current Cohort.

  • Ambassadors become peer mentors for certain HS students.

  • Another check-in with the Ambassador Coordinator that is more free flowing and gives our college students time to talk about how they are doing. These conversations are not academic focused, we want our Ambassadors to share how they are feeling and anything on their minds.
