Brothers@ Ambassador Internship Program

The Brothers@ Ambassador Internship consists of collegiate men of color who are currently navigating their college experiences. The Ambassador Program is unique in that it is not limited to one specific campus - Brothers@ Ambassadors are spread around the country, spearheading a movement of collegiate men of color who will graduate at astronomically higher rates than previously expected. The goal of the Brothers@ Ambassador program is to equip our young men with the tools necessary to graduate and present them with the opportunity to launch a Brothers@ model by establishing a brotherhood presence at their respective collegiate institutions across the United States.

As Ambassadors participate in the internship they will receive additional personal, professional, and academic support alongside mentorship resources while they embark on their college careers. Ensuring access to these support systems allows our Ambassadors not only themselves to thrive, but to continue in the brotherhood by extending the invitation to other collegiate men of color attending these institutions as well.

Brothers@ Ambassadors can also elect to take things a step further by becoming part of our national Brothers@ Consortium - through launching a satellite program on their respective campuses - which is a student-led club on campus with the aspirations of cultivating a safe space and community for the collegiate men of color on that campus. The Brothers@ Consortium is a collective group of institutions who are aligned in their vision of increasing collegiate men of color graduation rates, providing holistic student advising, and leadership development. Brothers@ trains Ambassadors & Partner Institutions to pilot satellite mentoring and persistence models for collegiate men of color. The Consortium is designed to facilitate belonging for collegiate men of color on their campuses and allows Brothers@ to serve as a critical partner to institutions seeking to deepen the inclusion of collegiate men of color through forming a community of practice among key stakeholders on each Ambassador’s campus. With our national expansion we will serve 300+ collegiate men of color.

Expansion in NY & Nationwide

After the success of our first cohort of 20 NY Ambassadors, our New York City program is now expanding to include a second cohort—recruiting an additional 40 rising college freshmen for the launch of Cohort 2 this Fall—to serve a total of 60 NY Ambassadors.

  • The Ambassador Program is expanding into four JPMorgan Chase sponsored markets/cities - Oakland, Chicago, DC and Dallas. The expansion will launch four pilot cohorts of Brothers@ Ambassadors: 10 young men of color per cohort, per city—providing support & programming to 40 new college students in 20+ campuses across the country.

  • By Fall 2023, we will be working with a total of 100 College Ambassadors nationwide across 5 different cities. Combined with our HS programs and our Brothers@Bard flagship, Brothers@ will serve 300+ YMOC in High School and College

Each Brothers@Ambassador is paired with a peer-mentor from their elder cohort.

Ambassadors are required to have 5 touch points in the program:

  • Attend a Monthly Ambassador meeting where all Ambassadors come together and discuss a variety of common issues college students face and how we can overcome them. We discuss academic issues regarding midterms and finals, but also get to tackle important skills like finances and utilizing opportunities on campus.

  • A check-in with the Ambassador Coordinator, where students give an update on their personal and academic progress. This is an opportunity to share any concerns or accomplishments that have happened in the past month.

  • Participation and facilitation in workshops with current high school fellows in Cohort IV. This provides the ambassadors with the experience of leading workshops, while also giving them the opportunity to connect with the current Cohort.

  • Ambassadors become peer mentors for certain HS students.

  • Another check-in with the Ambassador Coordinator that is more free flowing and gives our college students time to talk about how they are doing. These conversations are not academic focused, we want our Ambassadors to share how they are feeling and anything on their minds.
